Weekend of Stuff: Trophies, food and hills. 8weeks to Bikini body.
This weekend we have the closing off of the 2016 season and the potential to set up a 2017 season of glory.
Saturday is the EVRC presentation evening over at The Royal Oak in Ockbrook. There will be beer (for the people not racing Colwick), food (low fat, measured carbs and protein for those racing Colwick) and fun (limited amounts for those racing at Colwick). Incidentally those racing at Colwick are on a curfew and should back home in bed by 22:00. It’s about racing not enjoying yourself.
Sunday it’s the East Midlands XC Round3 (of 4) at Colwick here’s the route . It will be mud soaked, the hills will burn the legs and it will be a hard 2.5 (girls)-5miles(boys). That’s ok because winning hurts..hurt more win more Uh raaaaah! It’s also strangely really good fun, a very well organised race and we’ll go to the pub afterwards.
The XC team league standings in full are here . The men have a singular point lead over Rushcliffe (1st team gets 1 point, 2nd team gets 2points etc in each race and the league is the sum of the points scored in each race). The Ladies are 6th, 2 points off 4th. This means…Gents we’ve got our noses in front. If we repeat the turnout and performance of Bramcote we’ll go into the final at Trent Meadows with a shot at our first ever league win. Ladies we were 5th last year in the Senior and 2nd in Vets, we’re mid-table in the Vets but very much in the hunt for improving on last year’s position in the Seniors…if we have a full turnout.
The EVRC XC Champs are also in play and its quite close at the top, so go trophy hunting http://www.evrc.co.uk/content/cross-country-championship-201617
Couch to 5k. Dormant to Dominant. Flabby to Fit. A complete an utter embarrassing physical disgrace that’s encroaching on death to a shining example of athletic prowess.
EVRC are launching a 8 weeks beginners running course on 1st March. Kevin will be coordinating it for us and the training plan is based on an established run/walk plan. It will take (has already took) a fair bit of work by Kevin to organise, so if you can help out in anyway it will be much appreciated (have a chat with Kevin). The runs will start at 18:30 on Wednesday so please keep an eye out for new faces and say hello on club nights. The course is targeted at absolute beginners with the target of being able to complete a 5k after 8weeks(Long Eaton Parkrun) with no walking or assistance from dog pulling, Nordic poles or drugs. Vomiting and tears will be permitted at the 5k.
See you Saturday and/or Sunday xoxo – John W.
