Mud, beer and revolution #wheresbob
The summer and autumn race season is over which means it’s time to get some winter miles in to build that aerobic base, some cross country strength training in to injury proof and crank up your potential top speed and some beer training so you don’t embarrass yourself at the xmas party. Handily EVRC is to here help with all of that.
Dates for your diary.
Saturday 11th November: Cross Country Race. North Midlands League R2. Glebe Park Corby.
Where: Glebe Park Corby.
Start time: 13:25 Ladies, 13:55 Men.
What: R2 of the North mids league. It’s a rolling course of 4m for the ladies and 6 miles for the gents. There’s no big hills and its all grass with mid level muddiness. Remember you need 2 North mids races and 3 East mids races to count for the EVRC champs http://www.evrc.co.uk/content/cross-country-championship-201718 . Entry is covered by the club you just need to have an active membership and run in your club vest.
Wednesday 15th November: EVRC AGM
Where: Sandiacre FC (our clubhouse)
Start time: 19:00
What: Its our Annual General Meeting where we run through the clubs inner workings, finances, committee members and commemorate the 100 years on from the Bolshevik revolution by popping Gary the chairman in a wicker man and poking him with pitch forks..revolution! Remember it’s your club and this is where you influence the running of it.
Gary has decided to step down as chairman, something about not enjoying being poked with pitch forks. This means we need a new chairperson. This could be you. The only qualifications required are enthusiasm, a passion for all things EVRC and a little bit of spare time for a couple of Thursday meetings per year and some admin. If you’re interested you just need to put your name forward at the AGM (let me or any of the committee know), or raise a small army and seize power in a coup, whichever suits. If you have any questions ask me or any of the committee members
Note there wont be a normal club night so plan to run earlier or later or have a 3 pint night.
Sunday 19th November: Fell Champs Race. The Wrekin Wrecker

What: Its race 1 (of 4) of the East Midlands league. It’s 2.5-3m for the ladies and 5m for the gents. It’s a bit twisty with no big hills and just a few isolated mud pits. To do well in this league we do need everybody to come out and play or we get swallowed up. Every runner we get out there helps push people along and that gets us points. Please come along and run. As per all the leagues the race entry is covered by your membership you just need to wear the club kit.

What: The annual Christmas trip to the pub. Last year it was Derby, before that was Beeston, so now we’re back in Nottingham. We’ll kick off at 18:30 for those of us keen to get out of work and into the pub. We’ll then shuffle our way around the ale pubs and a few cheeky cocktail venues (I think a snakebite is a cocktail?). The full route and check points will be issued closer to the time to prevent unauthorised recces.
Notts Christmas relays. At the moment they’re looking like they’re off this year, but we’ll keep an eye out and if they do get put on we’ll be entering teams.
That’s about everything for 2017. Busy. See you Wednesday - John W
p.s On a personal note we’ve lost Bob (the cat, not ITU Bob, he’s fine). He lives in Stanton by Dale, could you please keep an eye out for our AWOL fur ball if you’re running through the village as we miss him and his brother has took to howling all night and sleeping on Fran’s head as he’s lonely. This is not ideal.
(Nothing to do with EVRC) Beer Mile IV John’s revenge. January 7th.
