Great achievements

Over the years a few club members have tackled some quite extreme events and come out winners.
STEVE HARPER ... Ran the Everest marathon (and it is not all downhill!)
Completed the Comrades Marathon in South Africa of over 50 miles, this was before ultra distances were fashionable.
GARY TUDBURY ...Completed the National Three Peaks Challenge cycling in between each mountain in atrocious conditions, failing to beat the record by just a few minutes. He has also completed many Ironman Triathlons
PHIL PITTSON AND OTHERS   Completed the Bob Graham Round Consisting of 42 peaks over 66  miles with in excess of 27,000ft of climb. To be done in less than 24 hours.
STUART WHITTAKER  & JIM ROBINSON ... cycled from Lands End to John o’ Groats unassisted when in their mid sixties.
ANNE & GEORGE BROWNHILL ... Backpacked from John o’ Groats to Lands End at the tender combined age of 137.
MATTY BRENNAN ... Believed to be the first member to receive a sports sponsorship and competes regularly in 50 mile plus challenges. Not only that but he is usually in the top 10.

THIS PAGE IS DEDICATED TO ALL THOSE WHO ACHIEVE SOMETHING SPECIAL WHILST MEMBERS OF THIS GREAT CLUB.

1. MAT NEEDHAM COMPLETED THE MARATHON DE SABLE 5th APRIL 2015

This is classed as the most gruelling race on the planet consisting of running over 150 miles in 5 – 6 days in the Sahara desert with temperatures sometimes exceeding 100 degrees F. Not only that but each competitor must carry all his equipment to last the whole event!
Mat completed the event in an excellent 316th position out of over 1200 finishers.

2. STUART WHITTAKER CLIMBED MUNRO

For over twenty years Stuart travelled up to Scotland two or three
times a year to climb Scottish mountains over 3000ft of which there
are 284. The majority of these require good mountaineering and navigational skills and be prepared for all weathers! Stuart
completed his last mountain on Saturday 5th September 2015.

Mount Everest next?  A MAGNIFICENT ACHIEVEMENT STUART!
